Where Lifestyle Meets Studio Portraiture | Owen Sound Photographer

Last Spring, we started construction to renovate our unfinished basement. Although part of the space is dedicated for family use - a large reason for the project was to create a larger studio space designed specifically for the kind of portraits I had been dreaming of creating for some time — clean, modern, timeless imagery centered around connection, emotion, and the beauty of motherhood. By early summer, I started shooting out of my new space while slowly continuing to get it set up in a way that facilitated the visions I had for my images, and my workflow.

Although the studio is located within my home just outside of Owen Sound, the space was intentionally designed to function as a professional portrait studio experience: calm, welcoming, minimal, and thoughtfully curated. What I love most about this space is its versatility. It allows me to blend softly guided lifestyle moments with classic studio portraiture in a way that feels effortless and cohesive.

For newborn sessions, that means a mix of:

  • Organic family connection,

  • Baby-led moments,

  • Clean, neutral styling,

  • And timeless posed newborn portraits incorporated seamlessly throughout the session.

The studio also provides a beautiful setting for maternity sessions, creating space for soft, emotive portraits that focus on this fleeting season of anticipation and motherhood.

And as babies grow, the studio transitions seamlessly for sitter milestone sessions - one of my favourite stages to photograph! Around the time babies begin sitting, their personalities truly begin to emerge. These sessions are playful, expressive, and full of curiosity, while still maintaining the clean and timeless aesthetic that defines my work.

By keeping the styling simple and neutral, the focus always remains where it should - on you and/or your baby!

I have received many compliments from families about the new space. Because the studio is private, cozy, and thoughtfully designed, it creates for a relaxed experience where parents can simply settle in while I guide the session gently and naturally. Truly, this space has become one of my favourite spaces in our home, and a comfortable space to create within.

If you’re looking for clean, timeless portraits that preserve this season of motherhood and family life - I’d love to welcome you into the studio and we can create something beautiful and meaningful together.
