Bruce Peninsula, Georgian Bay & Lake Huron Portrait Sessions

A Summertime Tobermory Proposal

There’s something undeniably special about the Lake Huron and Georgian Bay shoreline, stretching through the Bruce Peninsula and into Tobermory — the rugged coastline, water, quiet pockets of forest, and the most beautiful sunsets. It’s no surprise that so many families, couples, and travellers are drawn here. It’s the kind of place that invites connection, which is exactly why I love capturing portrait sessions in the area.

Last summer, I had the opportunity to photograph a proposal at a cozy Airbnb waterfront cottage, just outside of Tobermory. It was simple, intentional, and very meaningful. Two people, a beautiful setting, and a moment they’ll never forget!

While I don’t photograph weddings, I do specialize in smaller, more intimate sessions. Couples, families, or milestone moments that deserve to be documented in a relaxed and genuine way. Proposals are especially special. There’s something about capturing that mix of anticipation, surprise, and emotion that never gets old!

Usually I arrive at the session location, approach my clients and introduce myself … but proposals are different. In these circumstances, I often have to be a bit more obscure. For this particular session, I was out of sight, crouched next to the cottage, my long lens aimed and ready — waiting to catch THE moment! Watching and capturing the magic unfold from a distance was truly an honour. It took no time at all to see how head-over-heels in love this couple truly is!

If you’re planning a trip along the Lake Huron shoreline, Bruce Peninsula, or Tobermory and want to document your time there — whether it’s a quiet couples or family getaway, or meaningful milestone — I’d love to be a part of it!
