My daughter started out doing dance lessons when she was just 3 or 4-years old and carried on with it for about 5 years. She did a few years of ballet before settling into jazz and hip-hop. Every year, prior to the year-end recitals, I would always do a little photoshoot with her in her beautiful costumes. When we moved to the Owen Sound area, she decided she wanted to try something new, and after watching the Netflix series Cheer Squad, she had her sights set on competitive cheerleading.
Since moving to the Owen Sound area in 2020, she has been a part of the Georgian Bay Cheer Athletics club out of Shallow Lake, improving upon her skills and levelling up every year. To say that I am a proud “Cheer Mom” is an understatement! Of course I continued our tradition of photographing Reagan in her uniform during the competitive season.
Last Spring I had the opportunity to create modern cheerleading athlete headshots in Owen Sound for Georgian Bay Cheer Athletics.
It was so much fun! They brought their personalities to their photoshoots and I love how the resulting images turned out. These girls are incredible to watch, and the way they adapt. persevere and support each other throughout the year is just so special to witness. The strength, confidence, and personality they bring to the sport deserves to be captured in a way that feels just as powerful. Although these images were taken in the Spring of 2025, I’m sharing them now as we (or should I say, THEY) are in the midst of another busy competitive cheer season … exciting times!!

Whether you are a new or returning athlete, and are thinking about updating your child’s photos this season — I am offering a limited number of cheer portrait sessions with a focus on short, relaxed bookings. These sessions are designed to highlight each athlete’s individuality while still feeling fun, relaxed, and true to who they are.
